The head coach of "Manchester City", Pep Guardiola, admits that the results of this season do not satisfy both the team and himself, but he is happy that the club gives a second chance and next season the "Citizens" will try to show their strength.
The 46-year-old strategist arrived at "Man City" last summer. P. Guardiola brought in John Stones, Leroy Sane, and Claudio Bravo during the offseason, but the new acquisitions did not bring any titles to the team and at best, "Man City" will finish this season in third place in the Premier League.
According to P. Guardiola, in his former clubs ("Barcelona" and "Bayern" - ed. note), he would have been fired after such a season, so he is happy with the understanding of the "Man City" club management.
"I came here to win something, but achieving that was impossible for me," Guardiola told journalists. "If the season were to be judged only by results, I think they would have fired me and hired a new coach, but then they would face the same problems - the new coach would have to get used to the team again, build up the game, and that could cost another season."
"I am not here because I am Pep and for what I had achieved in the past. I know the main problem of this team, but I am not going to ask for another year and another transfer window every summer if we don't win a few titles.
For example, in Barcelona, I faced great pressure. If you can't win any titles in such clubs as "Barcelona" and "Bayern" in the next few months, you will surely be shown the door.
In such clubs, no one gives second chances. "Man City" gave me a second chance, and I will do everything with the team to make the most of it," Guardiola added.
Manchester's team still has two Premier League matches to play before the end of the season - they will face matches against "West Brom" and "Watford".
