Jadon Sancho made a somewhat unusual decision in the summer of 2017. The Englishman left Manchester City and moved to play for Borussia Dortmund.
The first season for J. Sancho was not easy. The winger played only 12 matches in the Bundesliga and scored one goal.
Things completely changed this season. The 18-year-old became one of the leaders of the Dortmund team and last autumn he had the chance to debut in the England national team.
Talking about his former protege, the Manchester City coach said that Sancho did not want to accept the challenge and fight for a place in City's lineup.
"Sancho did not want to accept the challenge and the opportunity to find out if he was capable of playing for City.
He chose to leave and it paid off. He is doing great, so all that's left is to congratulate Sancho for his performance.
Some of his performances are simply amazing. Sancho's season is fantastic. What if he continued to play for City? I really don't know.
It all depends on the players themselves and what they do on the field," - Pep Guardiola told journalists.
This season, J. Sancho played 34 matches for BVB, scored 9 goals, and made 15 assists.
