Pep Guardiola after the first failure of the season congratulated the opponents and admitted that his players can also make mistakes.
After losing points for the second time in the English Premier League, Man City fell against Norwich on Saturday. The champions' deficit from Liverpool increased to five points.
"Congratulations to the Norwich team, who did a great job," said Guardiola. "We practically didn't miss a goal that the opponents would have created themselves; the same Bournemouth had more chances against us. However, we were not good enough both in our penalty area and the opponents'. We will learn from this."
"We knew how strong Norwich can be, as last season they were dominant force in the Championship. We can see confidence in their game. We know that at times we played quite poorly ourselves, there were chances to equalize the result, but still, we have to congratulate the opponent," Guardiola continued.
"Man City" reduced the gap to one goal at the end of the first half. In the second half, the "Citizens" hoped to score a quick goal, but a mistake by Nicolo Otamendi near his penalty area gifted another goal to the Norwich team.
"Nico didn't see the approaching opponent, and no one from his teammates warned him," Guardiola explained the episode. "You understand, sometimes we also make mistakes. I think sometimes we forget that these guys are also human. Football is a fast game, mistakes are always inevitable."
Asked about the deficit against Liverpool, Guardiola added: "What can I say about this? I won't congratulate Liverpool on the champions' title in September. I have no doubt about my players' abilities."
