P. Guardiola: "We were very close to the final" © JumpStory

„Manchester City“ on Wednesday, in an unbelievable way, remained just on the edge of the UEFA Champions League final. The „Citizens“ were leading 1:0 until the 90th minute, which meant that „Real“ needed at least two goals to force extra time. The „Royal“ club scored the necessary two goals in just over a minute and the match went into extra time. At the beginning of extra time, a penalty was awarded to „Manchester City“, which Karim Benzema converted to lead his team into the tournament final. After the match, „City“ manager Pep Guardiola did not hide his disappointment, but admitted that his team did not play their best game. „I have experienced many painful losses in the Champions League, but I cannot say that we will easily accept this result. We were very close to the final. In the first half, we did not play very well, we did not find our rhythm. The second half was better and after scoring a goal, we were in control of everything. Unfortunately, we did not manage to successfully finish the match. These things happen and it will surely have a positive impact on the „Real“ players. I do not know how this will affect us“, – P. Guardiola said after the match.
