Most Lithuanians bet that Germany will win this year's World Cup, and after their elimination, they show their sympathies to the England and Brazil national teams, reveals betting company analyst Justas Naulickas.
“Lithuanians no longer have their main favorites and favorite teams. Most people bet on Germany's victory, and from the remaining teams, the England national team receives a lot of sympathy. People believe in them even more this year. And the standard favorites - Brazilians,” - says J. Naulickas on the LRT TELEVISION show “Good afternoon, Lithuania”.
Meanwhile, according to betting company data, the main outsiders of the championship are the Russian and Swedish national teams. There is also little expectation from Uruguay.
LRT football commentator Paulius Jakelis admits that he has believed in Brazil's success since the start of the championship.
“I really thought that the Germans would at least be in the semifinals. They are not. From the remaining teams, I like Brazil the most. I think they should win this World Cup. At least in my eyes, they are the favorites and the strongest team, although they will have something to do against the Belgians in the quarterfinals,” - the commentator ponders.
According to P. Jakelis, this World Cup was not lacking in surprises. The most memorable moment for the commentator was when Belgian national team striker Michy Batshuayi, trying to celebrate his team's goal, hit himself in the head with the ball.
An exceptional event, according to P. Jakelis, was a minute of silence organized on one of Argentina's television shows for the national team: “After a poor performance by the country's national team, they seemed to bury their team. A very interesting moment, I had never seen anything like it before.”
