P. Lahmas reported on the end of his career - this season will be his last (VIDEO)

Munich's "Bayern" legend Philipp Lahm revealed that this season will be his last. Despite his current contract with the Bavarians running until 2018, the defender decided to hang up his boots earlier. In Saturday's match against Schalke near Gelsenkirchen, the 33-year-old veteran took to the field with "Bayern" jersey for the 500th time. "After this season, I will end my career," Lahm revealed after yesterday's clash with "Wolfsburg." The club wanted the defender to immediately become the sports director, but the German will not take on a new job so quickly. "I decided that now is not the right time to take on the role of sports director," added Lahm. The German national team legend learned to play football in the Bayern academy and spent his whole career in this team, except for two seasons when he was loaned out to Stuttgart. In total, he has won seven Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal cups, and has triumphed once each in the UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup. The defender also marked his status as the captain of the German national team in the 2014 World Cup final, where Argentina was defeated.
