Former London "Arsenal" football player, now working as a "Sky Sports" expert Paul Merson believes that if the club fails to win the Premier League title, they should say goodbye to coach Arsene Wenger.
After losing to "Manchester United," the North London team is now five points behind leader "Leicester City" and three points behind the closest rival, "Tottenham."
"Arsenal" did not acquire a single significant player during the summer transfer window, so Merson thinks that the team's manager should pay for this mistake.
"If 'Man City' does not win the league, but 'Tottenham' or 'Leicester' do, Arsene Wenger should be fired," the expert told "Sky Sports."
"If you constantly tell loyal 'Arsenal' fans that the team does not need new players, but then lose out on the league to 'Leicester' and 'Tottenham,' I can't see how that can be justified."
"If 'Man City' wins the league, he can say that they have unlimited money and can buy whoever they want, so no new players would help," he added.
"Nevertheless, if 'Leicester' or 'Tottenham' triumph after his statements that the team does not need strengthening, I don't see how he could keep his job."
Merson also believes that Wenger must take responsibility for poor player motivation and, in general, according to the expert, there are thousands of coaches in the world with whom "Arsenal" could make it to the top four in England.
