One of the legendary players of Madrid's "Real" team Predrag Mijatović believes that the club should not even think about firing Julen Lopetegui after the matches with Plzeň's "Viktoria" or after the "El Clasico" duel.
According to the Serbian, the coach is just a part of the crisis that has hit this team. In his opinion, the crucial mistake was made in the summer, when Florentino Pérez decided not to buy anyone to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
"In my opinion, firing Lopetegui now would be a mistake," the former player said on "Cadena Ser" radio show.
"I have no doubts that it would be a mistake. Despite poor results, the situation in the league is not bad - we're just four points behind. We should trust the coach more.
Instead of constantly talking about firing him, we should find a solution on how to get out of this situation. We have players who must make decisions and get us out of this hole.
There is now a huge negative focus in the media. Julen had to endure a very tough press conference, but he handled it incredibly well. I think he has a lot of confidence in himself and his coaching staff.
Maybe we are not playing well now because of the success we had in the last few years. We also lost Cristiano, who scored many important goals.
