P. Nedved: F. Totti should remain without the captain's armband for his words © JumpStory

Pavel Nedved harshly criticized the comments of "Roma" striker and captain Francesco Totti after the 2-3 loss to Turin's "Juventus" team.

Last Sunday's match was full of emotions fueled by controversial decisions of referee Gianluca Rocchi. After the game, F. Totti made ambiguous remarks about referees allegedly favoring "Juventus" one after another.

"Totti is a respected champion, but his words angered me," said the legend who currently holds the position of Juventus director. "He has never played for a giant like Juventus, so he will never understand what that means."

"Working or playing for Juve means being ready to withstand endless outbursts of hatred. This even affects referees who are afraid to make decisions in our favor. If my team captain started saying such things after a few rounds, he would probably say goodbye to the captain's armband," Nedved retorted.

Asked if he would agree to the implementation of video replay technology to avoid such controversies, the Czech replied, "No, football would lose a significant part of its charm."
