One of the brightest current football stars, Paul Pogba, claims that Brazilian legend Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane were his childhood football heroes.
The Turin Juventus midfielder has been targeted by some of the biggest European clubs for a while now, but Juventus does not want to let go of one of the best young footballers in the world. French national team supporters believe that P. Pogba could be the key to their success in winning the 2016 European Championship title.
Celebrating his 23rd birthday today, the Frenchman recalls the 1998 World Cup final, when led by Zidane, the French defeated Brazil represented by Ronaldo: "We watched that match on TV and I remember how we loudly celebrated that victory with friends."
"Ronaldo is my football hero and an inspiring example. He made me fall in love with football. When I was young and played as a forward, I tried to replicate his moves on the pitch.
Of course, Zinedine Zidane was also an admirable example for me. He is a French football icon and the man who made us look at our national team differently. Everyone respects and loves him, so we all want to follow his example," added Pogba.
