"Manchester United" legend Paul Scholes believes that current club star Paul Pogba needs to think more often.
The most expensive purchase of the "Red Devils" last season clashed with coach Jose Mourinho and was constantly criticized despite his talent.
However, during the World Cup last summer, the 25-year-old footballer showed that he can demonstrate mature play, so now even higher expectations are set for him.
"I think Paul needs to find stability," - Scholes told "beIN SPORTS". "Looking at his game, it seems that one week he can be flawless, and the next - not so good."
"He seems to be the player who performs well every three or four matches. If you want to win leagues, that's not enough. It just isn't enough."
"He needs to become the controlling player he was at 'Juventus' - there he was part of an established structure, knew in which position he would play each week and who he would play with. I don't think representing 'United' helped him with that."
"I would be surprised if two consecutive matches he played exactly the same team or used the same formation. It doesn't seem like a clearly defined playing style here."
These words may sound like criticism of Mourinho, but Scholes, who often criticizes Pogba, would like to see him adapting to different situations.
"There is no doubt that the guy has real talent - he showed he can play at the World Cup," added the Englishman.
"He is a very physically strong guy. He can run and has great technique. However, in order to become a top-level player, he needs to use his brain more often."
