"Panevežio” football club continues UEFA Champions League qualification matches. Lithuanian champions played away in the first leg of the qualifying match with Helsinki HJK team and drew 1:1 (1:1).

With an overall result of 4:1, Panevėžys defeated their opponents and in the second round of qualification will face the footballers of Balstogė's "Jagiellonia”. The first match between the teams will take place in Panevėžys.

The first half was sluggish, with teams rarely creating threatening situations. The first attack came from Robertas Mazanis - his shot was caught by goalkeeper Jesse Ostas.

The first HJK team's strike towards the goal turned into a goal. In the 38th minute, Lee Erwin scored with a header after a pass from the left flank.

The 45th minute was memorable: Ernestas Veliulis took the ball, dribbled past half of the field, and scored an impressive goal.

During the middle of the Finnish half, they took control, and later Emilis Timburas worked hard, deflecting a long shot. On the other side of the field, "Panevėžys” launched a very threatening counterattack - the shots from Lucas de Vega and Noel Mbo after substitutions were saved by the opponents' goalkeeper.
