Panevėžys club acknowledged Kauno Žalgiris' superiority after the break

"Panevėžys”’ return to the "Aukštaitija” stadium was marked by a defeat. At the beginning of the second half, the home players, outnumbered, had to acknowledge the superiority of the guests – they lost to "Kauno Žalgiris” with a score of 0:2 (0:0).

At the start of the match, after a sharp pass from Fausto Steponavičius, Haymennas Bah-Traore almost sent the ball into his own net, soon after, Pavle Radunovičius, in an excellent situation, missed the ball. After 15 minutes, Dejan Georgevičius found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Vytautas Černiauskas blocked his path to scoring.

In the 24th minute, Andrija Karvackis received a red card for a last-ditch foul against an opponent, and Aminas Benchaibas began to utilize this advantage to threaten the goal; after his shot, the ball rolled just past the rectangular goal area.

In the 67th minute, Nosa Edokpoloras, receiving the ball in the penalty area, shot wide of the goal, and in the 80th minute, Romualdas Jansonas found Ernest Burdzilauskas, whose attempt rattled the crossbar. The final score of the match was set by R. Jansonas, who received an assist from Tautvydas Burdzilauskas.

After completing the 8th round of "TOPsport A Lyga” matches, "Kauno Žalgiris”, at least temporarily, climbed to the top of the league table with 15 points, while "Panevėžys”, which suffered a defeat, has collected 7 points and is in eighth place.
