Panevėžys’ legionnaire R. Mazanis: we will try to achieve a positive result in Kaunas

"Panevėžys” football club will end a more intense period in the "TOPsport A league” before the national team break. In the 32nd round, the Panevėžys team will travel to the Temporary Capital and will test their strength against "Kauno Žalgiris” for the fourth time this year.

The Žalgiris team, if circumstances favor, could secure medals as soon as the upcoming round concludes. The team coached by Saulius Širmelis is currently in third place after 31 matches with 52 points – 15 wins, 7 draws, and 9 losses.

In the 2024 season, the matches against "Panevėžys” have been different. The first encounter ended in a 1:0 victory for Panevėžys, while in the "Aukštaitija” stadium there was a goalless draw of 0:0, and in the next match, "Kauno Žalgiris” overcame a deficit to win 2:1.

The representatives of the capital of Aukštaitija have risen to 9th place with 32 points and could finish the round in 6th place if circumstances are favorable. Previous matches in the "TOPsport A league” went differently for the future opponents: "Panevėžys” defeated "TransINVEST” from Vilnius district 2:1 at home, while the Kaunas team lost 0:5 against Vilnius "Žalgiris” away.

Fk-panevezys.lt provided a comment ahead of the trip to Kaunas from legionnaire Robertas Mazanis from Slovakia.

"The first half of the season was personally different from the second one because I wasn't playing in my usual position. With the arrival of a new coach, I am playing in my position and I feel good. I have adapted to the championship and I feel good in my position in the matches.

We need to focus on our game, our strong qualities as we did in a few of the previous matches, and we will try to achieve a positive result,” stated the left-back defender.

"Kauno Žalgiris” and "Panevėžys” will clash on October 5, Saturday. The match at the "Kauno Žalgiris” FA stadium will start at 13:00.
