The last match of the 6th round of the "TOPsport A League" took place in the Temporary capital, where the local team "Kauno Žalgiris" clashed with "Panevėžys" in front of their own fans. The guests managed to keep a goal advantage in the first half and celebrated their first victory of the season with a score of 1:0 (1:0).
Although both teams did not have dangerous opportunities in the first half of the match, the guests took the lead in the 25th minute - Ernestas Veliulis made a successful pass, and Noel Mbo stood out with an accurate attempt. Shortly after, Filipas Dangubičius tried to respond with a long-range shot, but Vytautas Černiauskas did not make a mistake.
In the 38th minute, after a VAR review, Jovanas Čadženovičius was sent off for a rough foul, and the Panevėžys team remained in a reduced state for the rest of the first half.
At the end of the half, Armandas Kučys had a chance to equalize the score, but his header missed the target. In the 61st minute, Artūras Dolžnikovas took a powerful shot, but V. Černiauskas was in a good position. Just a few minutes later, Žan Benedičič's shot shook the goal frame.
Towards the end of the match, A. Hernandez's shot was saved by the opponent's goalkeeper, and A. Kučys, who was able to send the rebound into the goal, hit the crossbar, while F. Dangubičius' attempt also did not reach the target.
At the end of the 6th round of the "TOPsport A League", "Panevėžys" secured their first victory of the season and remains in 9th place with 5 points, while "Kauno Žalgiris" remains in tenth place with 4 points.
