Paraguay national team striker Jose Cardozo will miss the upcoming World Cup due to injury. The striker from Argentina's "San Lorenzo" club suffered a muscle injury in his left calf.

"It surprised me, but I thought it was nothing serious. However, during training, the pain started again and I asked the doctors to examine that area. Unfortunately, the result was as everyone already knows," the player regretted.

To replace the 35-year-old veteran Cardozo in the national team, 22-year-old Dante Lopez of the Italian club "Genoa" is preparing. However, despite not participating in the tournament, the footballer will stay with the team and help them prepare for the start of the competition.

Paraguay's first World Cup match will take place on Saturday in Frankfurt against the England national team. In Group B, Sweden and Trinidad and Tobago teams also play.
