In the new season of the Italian "Serie A" championship, after extra matches, the coach of the surviving team became former "Chievo" strategist Mario Beretta.
45-year-old Beretta started last season at Verona's "Chievo" club, but was fired with just three matches left until the end of the championship and the team approaching the relegation zone.
"Parma" was also close to relegation, but coach P. Carmignani's pupils managed to defeat the "Bologna" team in the extra matches to avoid relegation. Carmignani, leaving his post, will now work with the youth team in the club.
In the past decade, the once powerful "Parma" club won the Italian league three times and the UEFA Cup twice, but in 2003, after the collapse of its owner, the "Parmalat" company, it ended up in a financial crisis. The Italian media reports that recently the club has been sought to be taken over by an Italian-led company from Switzerland.
Meanwhile, a new head coach has already been appointed by the "Serie A" mid-table team - Attilio Tesseras, 47, who last season helped the "Triestina" team avoid relegation from "Serie B", replaces Daniele Arrigoni who moved to "Torino".
