"Wycombe Wanderers" striker Scott Kashket - faced with strict punishment from the English Football Association (FA).
The 23-year-old Englishman has been suspended for two months and must pay a fine of £3,446 to the organization.
The athlete was punished for placing 183 bets on football matches.
According to the FA, the player participated in betting from 2014 to 2016, when he was still playing for "Leyton Orient" club, and in total lost £1,067 and won £946. This amount was added to his FA fine of £2,500.
It is said that S. Kashket placed 65 out of the 183 bets in relation to "Leyton Orient" games. In 19 of those matches, he had the opportunity to show up on the field and he then placed bets against his own team 10 times.
"I regret my actions and will learn from this situation to improve as a person and as a player. I want to thank the "Wycombe Wanderers" club for their support and I am ready to come back stronger to the field after two months," said the footballer.
