London goalkeeper Petr Cech was named Czech Player of the Year for the first time in his career.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper helped Chelsea win the English championship for the first time in fifty years and last season he even broke two Premiership records: he went 1025 minutes without conceding a goal and played 24 games without letting in a single goal.

In the voting, P. Cech beat out Dortmund's Tomas Rosicky for second place, while the best player of 2004, Juventus goalkeeper Pavel Nedved, finished third.

P. Cech became only the third goalkeeper to win these awards, which are voted on by players and coaches.
