The newcomer of 'Juventus' Patrice Evra was officially presented to the press on Thursday.
During the midday press conference, the Frenchman, who freely speaks Italian, expressed his joy at returning to the country where he began his professional football career.
"I would like to thank Italy for opening the doors to professional football for me. I have many unforgettable memories from my time at the 'Marsala' club," smiled the 33-year-old defender. "As soon as I received the call from 'Juventus,' I didn't hesitate for a second. It was the right choice."
"It will be difficult to defend the Italian champions title for the fourth time in a row. I know this very well because with the 'Manchester United' team, I have won the English championship three seasons in a row," he added.
"However, I am extremely happy to have chosen 'Juve.' It is a club with a wonderful history. I won't hide the fact that leaving Manchester was incredibly difficult for me, but I had to do it for personal reasons. Now, I have no regrets about it," reassured P. Evra.
This summer, the coach of the Turin team, Massimiliano Allegri, has not hidden his ambition to go as far as possible in the UEFA Champions League tournament, which P. Evra won in 2008.
"Playing in this tournament brings an indescribable feeling. But winning it is an incredibly difficult task. A good start lays solid foundations for further battles. We won't start the season aiming to win the Champions League, but in pursuit of a successful performance, we will give it our all. I have played in the final four times and I realized that there is a very clear line between winners and losers," noted P. Evra.
On that fateful evening in Moscow in 2008, together with the team led by the Frenchman, the 'Red Devils,' also fled the attacking leader of 'Juventus,' Carlos Tevez, with whom the defender is good friends.
"Carlos and I communicate closely both on and off the pitch. I was very happy with his successful debut in the 'Juventus' team. Carlos has an insatiable hunger for victories and is a true champion. When I arrived in Turin, he told me, 'Patrice, we will have to work hard here to achieve our goals.' Carlos is one of those who can carry the team on his shoulders," reassured P. Evra.
In the 'Juventus' team, the Frenchman will wear the number 33 jersey.
