Yesterday began the decisive group stage of the third round, crucial for many participants of the World Football Championship, wrote lrt.lt. While national team coaches are organizing their troops for these battles, football fans and analysts are still discussing the most important battles of the second round.
"The performance of the Polish national team (losing both tournament matches - LRT.lt) was the most surprising, because the team is good.
In Group H, Poland and Colombia were called favorites, but both national teams stumbled and it was a do-or-die situation - either win and keep their hopes alive to advance, or lose and it's all over.
Some Polish players were already crying with 5 minutes left in the match. I'm afraid to think about what kind of criticism awaits them in Poland.
But that's how the World Championship goes - some rejoice, others cry," sports commentator Paulius Jakelis says about Poland's defeat to Colombia with a score of 0:3.
According to him, praise should also be given to Colombia and Germany, which managed to rehabilitate themselves after tough losses. He also pointed out some interesting facts about the championship.
"In the group stage, we have seen more goals scored from penalty kicks than in the entire past World Football Championship. In addition, conceding 5 goals in their own net is almost 10% of all goals scored during the matches," says P. Jakelis.
