As reported on Thursday by multiple Dutch champion, the Eindhoven club has acquired former Dutch national team and team striker Patrick Kluivert. "PSV" has signed a one-year contract with the 30-year-old footballer.

P. Kluivert, who is the all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team, has defeated opponent goalkeepers 40 times in 79 matches, left "Valencia" after a very unsuccessful season, where he played only 10 games and scored only one goal.

The player left England's "Newcastle" last June and moved to "Valencia", but injuries plagued him almost the entire season.

His transfer was delayed for three weeks because he could not pass a medical examination due to a knee injury in his left leg.

The player finally returned to his native Netherlands, but the veteran striker felt deep-seated pains in his right knee, which he injured in January.

P. Kluivert declared that he was looking for a new club after not being included in the "Magpies" club preparations for the new season camp, which took place in the Netherlands.

With an excess of strikers in the team, the services of the Dutchman were declined, as the club acquired Fernando Morientes from "Liverpool" at the beginning of the summer, in addition to having the best striker of last year's "Primera" league, the Spaniard David Villa.

P. Kluivert started his career in 1994 at the "Ajax" club and became famous at just 18 years old when he scored the winning goal in the 1995 UEFA Champions League final against "Milan," helping his team win the European champions' laurels.

The player has not been called up to the national team since July 2004, when Marco van Basten became the new coach.

Now the 30-year-old striker will likely take the place of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who recently moved to Glasgow "Celtic."
