Gynėjas Philipp Lahmas suffered a serious injury to his cruciate ligaments during training yesterday. Due to this injury, one of the most promising defenders in Germany will be unable to play for about half a year.
The 21-year-old P. Lahmas belongs to the Munich team, but has been loaned out to the Stuttgart club for the past two years. Having performed well as a left-back defender, he also made it to the German national team, representing it successfully at the 2004 European Championship.
It is hoped that the young footballer will be able to help the Munich team in the second half of the next season. Until then, he should be replaced by the veteran Bixente Lizarazu, whose contract with the club has been extended for another year on Tuesday.
Due to the injury, the young defender will not be able to represent his country in the Confederations Cup matches taking place in Germany from June 15-29. P. Lahmas will also have to miss the last Bundesliga matche
