"There is no place for the latest technologies in football," says UEFA president Michel Platini.
The Frenchman also criticized the goal line technology, which helps determine if the ball crossed the goal line. Tests are currently underway, after which this measure should be implemented and become a part of football routine.
"I am not against goal line technology - I am against technology in general," said Platini. "Victory is determined by angles, penalties, mistakes, many other aspects. Not only the line.
"FIFA and the International Football Association Board have decided to implement goal line technology. I am not a member of this board, but that does not mean I cannot express my opinion. Football must remain human - if we have a problem, we can solve it with more referees, who will decide if it was a goal or not.
"In three years there were 14 doubtful cases, including a 2 centimeter error in the England-Ukraine match. Goal line technology will cost 50 million euros - Do you want us to spend that much for one goal in two years? Nonsense."
