The Polish national team is not planning to play in the World Cup qualifying tournament match against Russia. This was announced by the country's football director, Cezaris Kulesza. "Words are enough, it's time to act! Due to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, our national team will not play a match against Russia and this is the only right decision. We are currently in talks with Sweden and Czech Republic (other tournament participants) to prepare a joint position for FIFA," the statement read. The boycott was also supported by Poland's best player Robert Lewandowski: "This is the right decision. I cannot imagine playing against the Russian team when military aggression against Ukraine continues. The players and fans of this country are not responsible for this, but we cannot pretend that nothing is happening."
