The English police have launched several investigations into threats and abuse directed at Premier League referee Michael Oliver.
The referee and his family received threats following Saturday's match between Wolves and London’s Arsenal.
The most controversy was sparked by M. Oliver's decision to send off Arsenal's winger Myles Lewis-Skelly in the 43rd minute of the match.
Most football experts and fans believe that in that situation, the Arsenal player deserved a yellow card rather than a red card.
Support for M. Oliver was expressed by both the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) and the Premier League.
