In the second division of American football, the "Las Vegas Lights" club is currently not having the best of times. The team only plays in the USL championship and ranks fourteenth among 16 teams with 27 points. However, the Las Vegas team will likely be delighted with a full stadium of fans at the next championship match. The club has found a motive to attract fans to buy tickets to the "Lights" team's game.
On Sunday, the Las Vegas team lost again - they were defeated by "Los Angeles Galaxy" 1:2. This was already the fifth failure in a row.
But the fans were not at all disappointed. During halftime, a team drone hung over the stadium field, which began to throw dollars. Real dollars. A total of 5,000 US dollars were thrown to the sports fans gathered in the stands - 3,000 dollars in singles and another 2,000 dollars in 2.5, 10 and 20 dollar bills.
“I just stood there and watched as the dollars fell on me,” said fan Tony Hapickas.
“I was collecting money to buy tickets for me and my daughter to the ‘Life is beautiful' show,” said Mrs. Loren, who managed to grab only 15 dollars.
“People might say about us - look at those crazy people. But I am proud of it,” said Las Vegas team owner Brett Lashbrook. “Indeed, we take the team's results very seriously and have considered how to thank those who come to our games.”
He emphasized that the idea of throwing money is not new, but it was not possible to throw money only to children. “However, we are not unique and borrowed the idea of throwing money from the Michigan baseball team: they threw money to fans in 2006. However, there was such chaos that two children were injured. Therefore, we clearly stated that only fans over 18 years old can catch the money,” said the owner of the Las Vegas club.
