Portugal's national team strategist Paulo Bento reassures his country's fans and confirms that Cristiano Ronaldo is rapidly recovering and may be able to play from the beginning of the World Cup.
For some time now, it has been unclear whether Pepe, Raul Meireles, and C. Ronaldo will be able to play in the first group match, but according to P. Bento, all players are progressing.
"My trust in Portugal's national team medical staff is 100 percent," the coach said. "I am glad to see Cristiano progressing after his injury."
"There is nothing more important to me than the player's health. All three team members have different problems, but Raul played fewer matches towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's case is somewhat different, as he was not in the best health during the UEFA Champions League final. Pepe had some issues after the Champions League, but we are trying to solve this problem," P. Bento concluded.
Portugal will compete in their group with the USA, Ghana, and Germany.
