“Barcelona” team leaders planned before the start of the season that the Catalans would successfully play in the UEFA Champions League tournament.
As reported by “Mundo Deportivo”, team president Joan Laporta even managed to include the yet unclaimed prizes in the budget of “La Liga” representatives.
It is reported that due to Barcelona's failure to advance to the Champions League knockout stage and reach the quarterfinals, the team's budget will open a gap of more than 20 million euros.
This amount would not even be compensated by a triumph in the Europa League tournament.
The “Barcelona” team is in a very difficult situation in Group C of the Champions League - with two games left to play, the Catalans must win against Munich's “Bayern” and Plzen's “Viktoria” and hope for failures from their main competitor, Milan’s “Inter”.
