From the next season in the English Premier League, teams will be able to make the usual number of substitutions again. After the coronavirus extended the season, it was decided to increase the number of substitutions to 5 in all leagues. This possibility remains for the next season, but Premier League clubs have spoken out against it. It is possible to waive this rule if the majority of clubs participating in the league agree. It was unanimously decided in the Premier League that next season teams will be able to make a maximum of three substitutions again. In addition, there will only be seven players on the bench.
