On the first day of 2015, there were nine matches of the 20th round in the English Premier League.
Stoke City hosted Manchester United in front of their fans. Louis van Gaal's players did not show superiority over the hosts and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Stoke City team took the lead first, scoring in the 2nd minute of the match. Ryan Shawcross scored after a precise pass from Peter Crouch.
However, Stoke City did not enjoy their lead for long and in the 26th minute the score became level when Radamel Falcao scored his third goal in the Premier League.
Neither team created significant chances in the remaining time and the match ended in a draw. Manchester United remains in third place with 37 points, while Stoke moves up to 11th place.
In other matches, Manchester City faced Sunderland at home. After a fierce battle, Manuel Pellegrini's team won 3-2 against Sunderland.
All goals were scored in the second half, with the 'Citizens' taking the lead in the 67th minute after goals from Yaya Toure and Steven Jovetic. However, the visitors did not give up and managed to equalize the score in three minutes. Nevertheless, Frank Lampard's goal secured the victory.
At Anfield stadium, Liverpool fans cheered in the first half, but were shocked in the second. Brendan Rodgers' team took the lead with two penalty goals from Steven Gerrard in the first half, but Leicester City fought back in the next 45 minutes and leveled the score.
After the win, Man City remains in second place, while Liverpool drops to ninth after the draw.
