Yesterday evening in the English Premier League, there were four matches of the sixth round. These matches did not make any major changes to the top of the table - London still confidently leads, while unexpectedly another team from the English capital took second place. The most interesting match of the round took place on Sunday at Liverpool's "Anfield" stadium, where last season's strongest European club, "Liverpool," hosted "Man Utd." Although it was a fierce battle, neither team managed to score goals, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. In the first half, both teams had several good opportunities to score, but neither S. Gerrard nor R. van Nistelrooy's dangerous shots found the target. The second half unfolded similarly, and towards the end of the game, "Liverpool" had a few chances to snatch the victory, but the match ended goalless. Having earned 11 points in 5 matches, the "Man Utd" players share the third place in the league table with "Bolton," who has played an extra game. Meanwhile, "Liverpool," with only 6 points from four matches, is currently in 11th place. In another match, "Newcastle" crushed "Blackburn" 3-0 away. The legendary Alan Shearer scored the first goal with a beautiful penalty kick in the 62nd minute. Just four minutes later, newcomer Michael Owen doubled the Sharks' lead with a precise header after a pass from Charles N'Zogbia from the flank. The same C. N'Zogbia tripled the score with a beautiful shot towards the end of the match, securing the victory. Interestingly, even removing Steven Taylor in the 72nd minute, leaving "Newcastle" with ten men, did not help the home team score a goal. In another match, the aforementioned "Bolton" club narrowly defeated "Man City," while the game between "Wigan" and "Middlesbrough" ended in a 1-1 draw. Sunday's results: Newcastle 0 - 3 Blackburn 62' [0 - 1] Alan Shearer 66' [0 - 2] Michael Owen 86' [0 - 3] Charles N'Zogbia 72' Steven Taylor sent off ("Newcastle") Liverpool 0 - 0 Man Utd Wigan 1 - 1 Middlesbrough 14' [0 - 1] Yakubu Aygbeni 68' [1 - 1] Henri Camara Bolton 0 - 1 Man City 90' [0 - 1] Gary Speed (own goal)
