The president of the highest Spanish football league, Javier Tebas, admitted to being a fan of Madrid's "Real" as El Clasico approaches.
The head of "La Liga", who has held this position since 2013, said that team results are followed from childhood.
Tebas decided to take this step fearing that the fact of his favoritism towards the "royal" club might come to light in other ways, and in that case he would be accused of being a hypocrite.
"If I said that I don't root for 'Real', it would be hypocritical, and everyone would consider me a liar," the president said in an interview with AS.
"I definitely don't want that to happen. Imagine if I had said that I love all teams, but then it would be revealed that I have been a fan of 'Real' since childhood, attended 27 Clasico matches in the past, and celebrated the team's victories in a bar with friends. I think it's better to tell the truth."
