Madrifo "Real" striker Karim Benzema will no longer wear the jersey of the French national team - this information was revealed by the president of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Graet.
The last time the "Real" striker played for the national team was in October 2015 in a friendly match against Armenia. However, following a scandal in which Benzema was accused of being involved in blackmailing his teammate in the national team, Mathieu Valbuena, he was eliminated from the team. Although later he was acquitted by the court, he has not been given the opportunity to return to the national team, and N. Le Graet stated that the player can no longer think about returning to the national team.
"I have never made negative comments about K. Benzema. On the contrary, I was the only one who always called him a great player. However, his career in the French national team is already over. My opinion on this has never changed," said the president of the French Football Federation.
Having played in the national team since 2007, K. Benzema represented his country in a total of 81 matches and scored 27 goals.
