The club defended the title of Portuguese champions in the last round of the Portuguese championship, beating the "CD Das Aves" club 4-1.

The Porto football players who defended the title of champions needed a victory in the last round to secure their 22nd Portuguese champions title. The victory was brought to the club by two goals from Lisandro Lopez, one from Adriano, and one own goal from Jorge Ribeiro.

The capital's teams "Benfica" and "Sporting" could also become champions, but they had to rely on Porto's failure.

Porto finished the championship with 69 points. Sporting, who finished second with one point less, demolished "Belenenses" 4-0 in the last round. Benfica remained third with 67 points.

Porto and Sporting automatically qualified for the group stage of the next season's UEFA Champions League, while Benfica will have to fight in the third qualifying round. Braga and Pacos de Ferreira qualified for the UEFA Europa League.

"Beira-Mar" and "Das Aves" were relegated from the league, while "Vitoria" won 2-1 against "Naval" in the last round and managed to stay in the top division.
