The goalkeeper of Liverpool, who finished 6th in the Premier League and the Irish national team, put an end to all speculations related to his future, as he extended his contract with the "Irish" team for another year.
The 33-year-old footballer, who left "Coventry City" in February 2002 for a sum of 1.9 million pounds and moved to "Everton", had his contract at "Goodison Park" coming to an end soon and "Wigan" was the team that was most interested in the Irishman.
The experienced goalkeeper signed another one-year contract with the "Everton" club, which in the next season, for the second time during the tenure of head coach David Moyes, secured a spot in the UEFA Cup tournament.
L. Carsley wanted to be part of the Irish team and joined another veteran, defender Alan Stubbs, who also extended his contract for another year earlier.
"I spent great years here and I hope we can extend that. I and coach David Moyes sat down at the table two or three months ago and he said he would like me to stay in the team, and I replied that I really want to stay in this club," said the goalkeeper officially to the club's website.
"I am happy that we found a common agreement. I am very pleased to stay fair. We have something to look forward to next season playing in the UEFA Cup. The coach currently has the necessary qualities, and that is very important," added the Irishman.
This season, L. Carsley scored once in the Premier League, and during his five years at the Liverpool team, he scored 11 goals in 149 matches.
