Only in the last seconds of the game, the club that dropped to the lower division of the English "Championship" league announced a new team coach. It was former England national team captain Bryan Robson.
The 50-year-old strategist replaced Neil Warnock, who had been managing the team for the past eight years before stepping down from his duties. Warnock left the team just three days after "Sheffield United" lost the last game of the season 2-1 and dropped to the lower division.
"I am pleased to have received this position," said the new Sheffield United coach. "We have a good team, and if we do well, we can return to the Premier League."
The legendary England national team defender became an assistant coach, former player and coach Brian Kidd, who has worked as an assistant at teams such as and , and was also one of the staff members of former England national team coach Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson.
B. Robson, who has also coached , was without a job when he left the team last September.
Club president Kevin McCabe expressed full confidence in B. Robson, who will bring the Sheffield United team back to the highest division of English football.
"Bryan is an experienced coach. We believe that he is the right person who will bring the team back to the Premier League in the shortest time possible," said K. McCabe. "Every board member will support him, and the team will gain more ambition because this club aims to reach the top ten of the Premier League in three or five years. Despite our relegation, we are still determined to pursue these goals."
Last September, B. Robson mutually parted ways with the "West Brom" team and started working as a sports consultant, but it was believed that he would not give up this job.
B. Robson has already experienced the joy of promotion to the Premier League, as he did with the Middlesbrough club in 1995 and repeated the same in 1998 after relegation.
He successfully led the West Brom team in 2005, but last season the club dropped to the Championship league, and after a poor start this season, B. Robson left his position.
