Bayern Munich was very close to reaching the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday, but two goals by Joselu at the end of the match gave the ticket to Wembley to Real Madrid.
However, in the final minutes of added time, Bayern sent the ball into the goal, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. In that episode, both the assistant referee and the main referee Szymon Marciniak did not follow the VAR protocol and immediately flagged offside, although they should have waited for the end of the attack.
It was precisely because of this episode that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his frustration after the match.
"It was a tragic decision, violating the rules and VAR protocol.
Referees must allow the attack to be completed in such a situation. Initially, the assistant referee made a mistake, and then the referee, who could have simply not blown the whistle.
It certainly wouldn't have happened if Real were in our place," Tuchel said at the press conference.
