These are the 49th unbeaten "Bayer" matches this season out of the same number of possible matches, making them the record holders of unbeaten matches in Europe, surpassing Lisbon's "Benfica." The latter had remained unbeaten in 48 consecutive matches.
In the first match in Rome, the German team won with a score of 2-0.
In the 43rd minute, Argentine Leandro Paredes scored from the penalty spot to put Roma in the lead.
In the 66th minute, L. Paredes scored another penalty to double the lead.
In the 82nd minute, Roma's defender Gianluca Mancini scored an own goal.
In the 90+7 minute, Bayer's defender Josip Stanisic equalized the score.
In the other UEFA Europa League semi-final match, Atalanta defeated Marseille's "Olympique" club at home with a score of 3-0. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
The final will take place on May 22nd in Dublin.
