In the German Bundesliga championship, Borussia Dortmund, who finished 9th, is actively strengthening for the upcoming season - the club acquired striker Diego Klimowicz for an undisclosed fee, who helped them secure their place in the highest league of the country.
The 32-year-old Argentine became the fifth player to join the "black-yellow" club for the 2007-2008 season. He signed a two-year contract with Borussia Dortmund and committed to stay at the "Signal Iduna Park" until June 30, 2009. The financial details of the deal are undisclosed, but it is believed that the transfer fee was around 1 million euros.
The tall player stated that he joined Borussia to seek new challenges: ""Borussia" is an amazing club, and I had a good conversation with the team's sporting director Michael Zorc," the striker said. "I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to play for such a big club, supported by a crowd of up to 80,000 fans."
As a Legionnaire from Argentina wearing the "Wolfsburg" jersey in the Bundesliga, Klimowicz scored a total of 58 goals in 149 matches, and this season he was the top scorer in the team with 7 goals.
Borussia Dortmund, which managed to maintain its position in the Bundesliga after former coach Thomas Doll took over, has already added Polish goalkeeper Jakub Blaszczyk from Wisla Krakow, defender Giovanni Federico from Karlsruher, goalkeeper Marc Ziegler, and Daniel Gordon.
It is expected that the team will soon be reinforced by 26-year-old French defender David Rozehnal from the capital club, who will replace Christoph Metzelder leaving the club in the summer, as well as South African national team member Delron Buckley.
