From “Barcelona“ club, the released Xavi Hernandez shared his farewell message on social media:
“Dear friends, on Sunday will be my last game at the wheel of “Barca“. It is never easy to leave a club for a lifetime, but I am very proud that over the past 2.5 years, this team has become my second family.
I want to thank the fans for their support and influence; they have always been by my side and showed me equal love when I was a player and when I was a coach.
From Sunday, I will be another fan in the stands, both at the Olympic Stadium and in the renovated “Camp Nou“ in a few months. Because before being a coach or player at “Barcelona“, I have always been a fan of this team and I want the best for my lifelong club.
I worked with a great group of players and an amazing staff. Thanks to all of them, we achieved the goals set last year, winning the “La Liga“ and the Spanish Super Cup.
The recently ended season was not as we wanted, but we managed to raise a new generation of young footballers from the “La Masia“ academy, which inspired all fans.
Thank you very much to all of you. To the fans, players, staff, club employees, president, directors, sports director, press, and everyone I shared this journey with for two and a half years.
I wish all the best for this club, which I hold dear in my heart. Long live, “Barca“, I will always be a fan of this team.”
