England national football team coach Steve McClaren refused to deny rumors that he can bring back David Beckham, who has recently been showing good athletic form, to the national team.
This Saturday, the coach will announce the list of players who will prepare for a friendly match against Brazil and a crucial European Championship qualifier against Estonia.
32-year-old D. Beckham has not played for the national team since the World Cup quarterfinals, where England lost to Portugal.
"Are the doors open for D. Beckham? I have never said they are closed," said S. McClaren. "I observe many players and David is one of them."
The coach will also observe the performance of the second team against Albania on Friday. The captain of England in this match will be striker Michael Owen, who has recently recovered from a serious injury.
"Michael looks ready and sharp, but we shouldn't push him too much. He needs training and practice in matches. Already now, the striker looks stronger, that's what he has been working on.
"The fact that he is returning to the team is great news for everyone. You always feel a great lack when the best players are not playing."
