Coach of "Žalgiris" Vladimir Čeburinas rejoiced in the team spirit after the victory in Šiauliai and the fact that the players who came on as substitutes helped change the course of the game.
The Vilnius team were trailing against "Šiauliai" in the duel, but managed to level the score before half-time, and eventually turned the game around at the end (2:1).
"Congratulations to the fans on the victory. It was a good game. If the wind had been released - it would have been even better. I don't know why they didn't do that. Football would be better, faster. Regardless of how it is," V. Čeburinas said, "The game started interestingly, there were sharp attacks on both sides. We had more opportunities to score. Especially in the second half, when the opponents opened up. Both teams wanted to show something of their own. The opponent prepared for the game. We didn't handle the first goal. But later we got used to their actions. Bravo to the players - both those who played from the beginning and those who came on as substitutes. Coming on as substitutes added pressure on the opponents. The most important thing is the victory."
After the first half, the coach made two substitutions - R. Jansonas and J. Kendyšas entered the field. When asked if this was because the first half didn't go well, the coach replied: "I wouldn't say it didn't go well. We just needed to stick to our plan. Those substitutions were necessary for our plan."
In the second consecutive game, "Žalgiris" scored a winning goal at the end of the match, and this time they also managed to equalize after conceding the first goal.
"The team spirit is there. Every player is ready to play. Even if sometimes they don't feel good when they don't get to play. However, I can't release 20 players onto the field. Everyone wants to play. It's great that we are moving forward. It's pleasing to our fans. And the players can be happy with what they show on the field," V. Čeburinas said.
This week "Žalgiris" will face the "TransINVEST" team twice away - on Thursday in the cup and on Sunday in the league.
