On Friday, reports appeared in the Russian media that Vilnius may soon have new owners - the large Russian investment company "Metropol", with which negotiations are currently taking place.
It is claimed that with the arrival of a new shareholder, the budget of "Vėtra" will be increased. It is also planned to expand and modernize the "Vėtra" stadium, and to build an entertainment and business center next to it. According to the newspaper "Sport-Express", "Metropol" is also interested in the possibility of developing real estate projects in Vilnius and Palanga.
It is also reported that the new owners may make changes in the coaching staff of the team. According to the media, they are not satisfied with the work of the head coach of "Vėtra", Alexander Tarchanov - the ambitious goals raised by the Vilnius club before the season have led to the team currently holding only sixth place in the A Lyga after 12 rounds. Although the possible candidates for the position of "Vėtra" coach have not been named yet, the candidacy of young Russian coaches who have graduated from Moscow's "Spartak" club school is being considered.
Attempts to contact A. Tarchanov, whose "Vėtra" team plays at home today against Marijampolė's "Sūduva", have failed.
