Djibril Cisse said he would like to continue representing the team and rejected the possibility of moving to a smaller English club.
The rights to the Frenchman still belong to him, but he did not find his place and was loaned to Marseille until the end of this season. It is almost certain that Liverpool, the team going through changes, will not try to bring the striker back.
However, even in Marseille, D.Cisse's career is not paved with roses - the athlete's sporting form does not always please coaches and fans. The latter have even booed the Frenchman several times.
"Fans' opinions changed so fast, and I find it hard to understand. To love one day and hate the next is definitely not my style," said D.Cisse.
Regardless, he claims he intends to establish himself in the new team and show his true worth.
"I tell myself that I could have scored more goals, as I missed many good opportunities," D.Cisse said.
"Some, in my position, when I lost my place in the starting lineup, could have gone crazy. But I understood everything. It even pushed me to prove what I can really do.
"I have not reached my best physical form, but I am not far off. It's a shame that the season is already over.
"I really want to continue playing here, but the decision does not depend solely on me. It is up to Liverpool to decide.
"Would I move to a weaker English team? That would not be the best choice with only a year left until the European Football Championship. I already missed such a tournament and the World Cup, so I do not want everything to repeat," he said.
"Marseille" finished second in the French championship and will represent the country in the UEFA Champions League next season.
