The Lithuanian legion in the Edinburgh team has decreased slightly. One of the club's directors, Valdas Ivanauskas, confirmed that he has become a free agent and most likely will not represent the Scottish capital's team in the next season.
"Edgaras is now free," V. Ivanauskas said. "He is a great player, next week we intend to discuss everything with him again, but I don't think he will return to Hearts. Nevertheless, I have no doubt that this striker's future is bright. The most important thing next season is to avoid injuries."
Frequent health problems prevented the 32-year-old Lithuanian from revealing his true potential. Earning a weekly salary of £10,000, E. Jankauskas played his last game wearing Hearts' shirt in a match against Dundee, which they lost 0-4, receiving criticism from their own fans.
In total, the footballer scored 13 goals in 46 matches for Hearts. This season, he only managed to score once.
Unofficially, the striker who represented the Lithuanian national team 46 times is attracting interest from several top Spanish league clubs, including Huelva. The Scottish press does not rule out the possibility of E. Jankauskas returning to FBK Kaunas."
