Šiauliai" saved a point in Alytus

“TOPsport A Lyga” 18th round started with a high-scoring match in Alytus. The local DFK “Dainava” did not keep a couple of goals advantage and shared a point with FA “Šiauliai” - 2:2 (1:0).

In the first half, the guests controlled the ball a little longer, had several corners, but the hosts attacked more dangerously - Aaron Olugbogi missed the goal, and Gustas Baliutavičius caught Artiom Baftalovskis' shot.

Nevertheless, in the 39th minute, “Dainava” broke forward as Ode Abdullahi scored with a long-range shot. What's more, in the first half, the Sun City team made a forced substitution - Deividas Šešplaukis had to leave the field.

After the break, the players from Dainava doubled their advantage. A concentration error led to a penalty earned by Stanislav Sorokin, which the Ukrainian himself converted in the 62nd minute. However, FA “Šiauliai” did not give up - after 4 minutes, Eligijus Jankauskas scored, registering his first goal in 2024.

Taking the initiative, Šiauliai finally expanded their points tally, equalizing for the second consecutive match after eliminating a two-goal deficit. This was done in the 80th minute when Davis Ikauniekas redirected the ball into the net, becoming the most productive player of the season once again with 8 goals.

After this match, “Dainava” remains in the 9th position with 21 points, while Šiauliai have 19 points and move up to 8th place.
