The Italian national team looked powerless against Spain.
The team defending the title of European champions lost to their opponents just 0:1, but Luciano Spalletti's players were completely overwhelmed by the opponents and couldn't threaten their goal seriously.
After the B group match, the Italian coach said:
"We left too many gaps in defense. We couldn't close them down and that caused us a lot of problems. Spain was even more dangerous than it shows in the final result."
Meanwhile, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma said:
"To be honest, I don't care about saving shots. I expected a completely different result and performance.
We missed simple short passes and lacked mastery. If you can't play like that against Spain, they will definitely punish you."
