The group D of the 2024 European Championship for Mortals ended quite unexpectedly - Austrians finished first.

Austria, enjoying a favorable result in Dortmund, did their job perfectly. They defeated the Netherlands team 3:2.

The Netherlands started falling behind in the sixth minute. Donyell Malen scored an own goal.

A poor first half for the Dutch was also indicated by Joey Veerman. The central midfielder, who had received a chance, was substituted before the end of the first half - in the 35th minute.

Immediately after the break, Cody Gakpo equalized the score with a beautiful shot.

Roman Schmid shifted the score back in Austria's favor in the 59th minute.

After coming on as a substitute, Wout Weghorst made a header pass to Memphis Depay, who restored the tie. Soon after, Marcel Sabitzer took advantage of the leaky Dutch defense and scored his goal - 3:2.
