Anykščiai fought honorably against the Lithuanian football stars

On July 10th, special matches were played in Anykščiai - the "MV Team" team, composed of Lithuanian football legends, arrived in the city of writers.

In the SFL Cup 1/16 stage match, players such as Arvydas Novikovas (96 matches for the Lithuanian national team - ed. note), Saulius Mikoliūnas (101), Arūnas Klimavičius (42), Edgaras Česnauskis (43), Tomas Mikuckis (21), Gediminas Vičius (18), Vytautas Lukša (26), Valerijus Mižigurskis (2), Marius Rapalis, and others took the field.

The opponents started with a successful attack (V. Mižigurskis), but soon an Anykščiai player M. Jakšas equalized the score (1:1).

The guests continued to demonstrate individual skill and once again took the lead (V. Mižigurskis). The very active forward for Anykščiai, R. Prušinskas, took advantage of a mistake in front of the "MV Team" goal to equalize (2:2).

"MV Team" scored a third goal (S. Mikoliūnas), and goalkeeper K. Valavičius saved Anykščiai from a fourth precise shot, stopping A. Novikovas' penalty kick from 11 meters.

In the second half, "MV Team" capitalized on their created opportunities (A. Novikovas, E. Česnauskis, his son, V. Mižigurskis), while Anykščiai club forward D. Jakšis managed to score a goal - 3:7.
